چکیده

The relativistic flux tube model is an effective description of confined quarks and gluons derived from QCD. It is not a potential approach since the confining interaction is carried by the flux tube, a Nambu-Goto string. We first show that the relativistic flux tube model can be applied to glueballs seen as bound states of transverse constituent gluons. After a comparison of that approach to usual spinless Salpeter Hamiltonians, we compute glueball masses and decay widths. Comments about the η-η′-pseudosclar glueball problem, the glueball–Pomeron conjecture, and finite-temperature effects are finally given. We also point out the existence of a duality between openand closed-flux tube models of glueballs.

Flux-Tube Ring and Glueball Properties in the Dual Ginzburg-Landau Theory

An intuitive approach to the glueball using the flux-tube ring solution in the dual Ginzburg-Landau theory is presented. The description of the flux-tube ring as the relativistic closed string with the effective string tension enables us to write the hamiltonian of the flux-tube ring using the Nambu-Goto action. Analyzing the Schrödinger equation, we discuss the mass spectrum and the wave funct...

Glueball Spectra of Su(2) Gauge Theories in 3 and 4 Dimensions: a Comparison with the Isgur-paton Flux Tube Model

We use the results of recent lattice calculations to obtain (part of) the mass spectrum of continuum SU(2) gauge theory in both 2+1 and 3+1 dimensions. We compare these spectra to the predictions of the Isgur-Paton flux tube model for glueballs. We use this comparison to test the reliability of different aspects of the model and also to learn which aspects of the lattice calculations it is impo...

The scalar glueball

We analyze several scenarios for a scalar glueball using arguments based on sum rules, spectral decomposition, the 1 Nc approximation, the scales of the strong interaction and the topology of the flux tubes. The most appealing scenario on which we elaborate is one with a light glueball. Pacs: 12.38-t, 12.38.Aw,14.70.-e, 14.70.-j

The Effect of Linear Change of Tube Diameter on Subcooled Flow Boiling and Critical Heat Flux

One of the major industry problems is the flow boiling, where reaching to the critical heat flux (CHF) condition can lead to a temperature jump and damage of the systems. In the present study, the effects of a uniform change in tube diameter on subcooled flow boiling and CHF was numerically investigated. The Euler-Euler model was used to investigate the relationship between the two liquid and v...

Confinement, Spin, and Qcd ∗

The experimental and theoretical evidence relating spin dependence and long range confinement is reviewed. One of the simplest confinement ideas, the dynamic electric flux tube picture of Buchmüller, can be exploited to yield a complete effective Hamiltonian. In addition to pure Thomas spin-orbit splitting the other relativistic corrections are calculated. It is shown that our effective Hamilto...
